Each quarter has a life of its own. Monastiraki (opposite), is where you will find the antique dealers and junk shops, Plaka is the point of departure for the Acropolis, Gifalda... all these places are worth getting to know. Don’t miss the Cyclades museum, it will take you into another world far from the pollution in Athens. For your sightseeing trips, take one of the hundreds of yellow taxis. They’re very cheap. The average fare in Athens is between 3 and 5 euros, but don’t be surprised if the driver picks up other passengers on the way, it’s quite usual.
