Geography and climate in Greece



The rocky coastline of GREECE are as sharp as a blade. It's length is roughly 1500 Kms. The 3 quarters of the greek territory is just mountains. Many greek islands are emerging from the Egean, Ionian, Cretan and Dodecanese seas. These islands are just montain and volcano tops that have been engulfed when Mediterrannean sea has been formed. Mount Olympia is GREECE's top with it's 2917 m. In mythology, Mount Olympia was gods and goddesses ' nest. The mountain mass of the Pinde spreads on the north middle of the territory. Gamilla's Pic is snow-capped until mid-June.

Greece's population is worth 10.000.000 inhabitants.

The Climate
The mountainous regions have a continental climate. Summers are damp and Winters cold and snowy. Coastal regions and islands have a Mediterrannean climate ; warm and dry in summer, nice and rainy in Winter.
